Every artist sets their own rate. Here's what each one publishes on their own booking page, as of October 23, 2026. Your artist confirms the number for your piece.

How long a piece takes
Tommy's sizing guide is the handiest rule of thumb in the building. About 3 by 3 inches and under fits a walk-in or flash day. Most pieces over 3 by 3 need a half day, and anything over 4 by 5.5 inches needs a full day.
For big work he plans five to eight full days for a full sleeve, back, torso or leg, two to three full sessions for a half sleeve, plus a finishing session. Size, placement, detail and color all move the clock, so that's a starting point, not a quote.
Deposits and rescheduling
- Deposits are non-refundable with both Tommy and Joey.
- Tommy: reschedule once, with 72 hours notice, and keep your deposit.
- Joey: reschedule up to two times, with one week's notice, and keep your deposit. Arriving more than 15 minutes late voids the deposit, and a state photo ID is required.
- Everybody: 18 and over, valid government photo ID.
Money questions
Why do rates differ between artists?
Every artist sets their own prices and their own way of pricing. Tommy goes by the hour, Joey by the session, the rest quote per piece.
Is the deposit part of the price?
Ask your artist when you book. Joey's policy says that with several dates booked, the deposit goes toward the last one.
Do you take walk-ins?
Wednesdays at the Kankakee studio, 11 AM to 7 PM, $100 minimum.
