Walk-ins, booking, ID, deposits, design, prices, bangers and Want To Do's, for Kankakee and Crown Point.

Do you take walk-ins?

Wednesdays at the Kankakee studio: 11 AM to 7 PM, first come, first served, $100 minimum. Everything else, and everything in Crown Point, is by appointment.

How do I book?

Pick your artist, then send the idea through that artist's own form or DMs. The booking page lists where each one takes requests.

How old do I have to be?

18. Valid government photo ID, both studios, no exceptions.

Do I need a consultation?

Usually not. Tommy says a fully filled-out booking application is all he needs, and reference pics can follow once you're booked. Joey works from the theme and photos in the request form.

Will I see my design before the appointment?

Depends on the artist. Most of Tommy's pieces get designed on the day, with you, before the stencil goes on. Joey often spends hours on a design ahead of time. Ask yours how they roll.

How much does a tattoo cost?

Tommy is $250 an hour for most pieces. Joey lists $2,000 to $2,200 a session. Everyone else quotes per piece. Walk-in Wednesdays have a $100 minimum. See prices.

Is my deposit refundable?

No. Tommy lets you reschedule once with 72 hours notice and keep it. Joey allows up to two reschedules with a week's notice.

How long is the wait?

Depends who you book. Tommy's wait is typically about a month, and he answers requests within about two weeks. Joey answers project requests within three weeks.

What's a banger?

Tommy's word for a small piece: original flash, custom lettering or a palm-size tattoo around 3 by 3 inches. The kind of thing that fits a walk-in day.

What are Want To Do's?

Designs Tommy is itching to tattoo. He usually does them at a discounted rate, so they're worth watching for.

Do you do cover-ups?

Yes, Tommy takes them on. Plan on at least two sessions and send photos of the old one when you book. More on the cover-up page.

Which artist should I book?

Start with the style. Black and grey realism: Joey or Tommy. Color realism: Tommy. Neo-traditional, new school and horror: Sarah Jane. Fine line and blackwork: Karo. The crew page has a cheat sheet.
